Meet the Management Team
Mike Lauer, CEO
Mr. Lauer is responsible for the overall management and strategic direction of Branom Instrument Co. utilizing his career that has spanned engineering, construction, sales and project management. The 10-years before Branom, Mr. Lauer worked for Foss Maritime (a Saltchuk Company) in increasing leadership roles. Prior to Foss, he was employed as a field engineer by Bechtel, a leading engineering, construction and project management firm.
Mr. Lauer has always had a fascination with the measurement, control and automation industry with an ambition to grow a company in which he had a significant ownership interest. In July of 2018, he pursued these aspirations by assuming the CEO role at Branom Instrument Co. Going forward, Mike is committed to Mr. Ray Branom’s philosophy that the three most important aspects of any business can be expressed simply: Service, Service, Service.
On the personal side, Mike resides in Seattle with his wife and two daughters with whom he enjoys the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University, followed by a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business.
Rick Kendall, Vice President of Sales
Mr. Kendall has more than 20-years of sales experience working with process instrumentation products. His areas of expertise include Level, Flow, Weighing, Pressure and Temperature measurement. As VP of Sales at Branom Instrument Co., Mr. Kendall is responsible for all aspects of the sales department as well as managing the relationships with our manufactures to ensure the company has a consistent best-in-class product offering for our customers.
Mr. Kendall has worked in Inside and Outside Sales and Management at Branom Instrument Co. since 1995. Previously, Mr. Kendall was Regional Sales Manager for Venture Measurement Co (manufacturer of Level, Flow and Weighing products) for almost 7-years.
Mr. Kendall is also involved in leadership roles for both community organizations and his local church.
Sherri Nelson, Vice President of Operations
Sherri Nelson has more than 20-years of experience in Accounting, Human Resources, Marketing, Sales Support, Organizational Development and Operations. Ms. Nelson joined Branom Instrument Co. in 1999 in the Accounting Department where she was responsible for Payroll, Sales Commissions and Accounts Receivable. She then moved into the role of Sales Coordinator in 2003 where she assisted the Sales Manager/Sales Team, and Manufacturers. In 2008 Marketing was added to her duties, where she developed, established and maintained all marketing strategies to meet organizational objectives.
In 2013, Ms. Nelson moved into the role of Human Resources Manager where she managed organizational development and recruitment in addition to creating and implementing all processes and procedures for the Company. Since then she has also been instrumental as part of the Leadership Team working with the Board to improve efficiencies, improve communication, increase revenue and reduce costs.
Sherri accepted the position of Vice President of Operations in July 2017. Her current duties include providing oversight for day-to-day operations including Human Resources, Customer Service, Office Administration and Shipping and Receiving.
In her personal time Sherri enjoys outdoor entertaining for friends and family, as well as attending local sporting events and concerts.
Marty Weaver, Accounting Manager
Ms. Weaver has over 35-years of experience in financial operations and has held key positions in many industries. including retail, wholesale and international. Marty joined Branom Instrument Co. in 1997 as a member of the accounting team. In December of 2015 she was promoted to Accounting Manager at Branom. Prior work experience was for Atkinson Bell Electric where she was responsible for multiple fiduciary functions.
As the Accounting Manager Ms. Weaver’s duties include supervising all accounting functions, overseeing computer issues and system improvements.
Marty’s education includes studies in Credit Management, Analysis and Credit Law at Edmonds Community College. Accounting and Finance at Green River Community College and Computer Language and Programing from ITT Peterson School of Business.
Marty is a pet lover and enjoys nature.
Corey Porter, Technical Service Manager
Mr. Porter has more than 15-years of instrumentation technical service expertise. Corey began his career at Branom Instrument Co. directly after graduating from Western Washington University in 2003.
He started as Service Coordinator in the Technical Services Department where he learned all aspects of the department including technical service and support, instrumentation repair and calibration. Mr. Porter was then promoted to the Technical Service Manager with the responsibility of managing the entire service team, both in-house and field technicians. Corey and his highly-skilled team work closely with the sales staff to offer a superior level of quality of services and equipment to Branom Instrument Co.’s customers.
When not working, he likes to spend time with his wife, daughter, family and friends playing board games, going to concerts, and enjoying the local food, beer and activities in our area.
